It’s been very quite here of late. Too quiet.
Why?
Well, for personal reasons I needed to temporarily postpone my course. Thankfully, the University were very supportive and recommended I apply for an Intermittence — a 12-month break in my studies and then pick up from where I left off.
The last year was quite a journey of self-discovery and looking back I’m glad I took the time out. Giving myself the time and space to reflect on my life, to re-evaluate what matters to me and to set priorities accordingly has had a massive impact. I feel like a completely different person. My only regret is I didn’t think of doing this years ago!
At first, a year off seemed like a very long time but in truth it absolutely flew past.
Today, the course-proper resumed with the start of module 2. This is where I left off before and I now have a big choice to make: continue with the development of “Swarm!” or venture into something new? I really like the idea of completely starting afresh. Initial ideas I’ve had for games are…
- Pinball (or anti gravity pinball? <— would that even work?)
- Racing game that’s a cross between Wipeout, Deathrace 2000 and Mario kart
- Match-three platform puzzle game
- 1st/3rd person building escape
- Tank battle
It’s clearly time for an ideation session to generate workable ideas to test against each aspect of the module.
Game on!
