I’m blown away by this…

Last week I took two days out.

I time-boxed two days of rapid development to make a game. It’s only a little game and has one purpose: to help me understand what players want.

The game went live on Wednesday last week and in its first seven days has had 290 unique players.

The DAU curve is pretty much what I expected too. It follows the pattern I’ve seen with other casual games and I’m really excited to see if this repeats over the coming weeks.

BTW, the DAU in the chart is only from players who agreed to share anonymous usage data. The actual number of players will be higher than this.

The verdict:

Taking two days out was a good investment of time. The game has already exceeded my expectations and is providing meaningful market data. Even with just 290 players and 541 rounds, patterns are starting to appear.

Clearly there’s a lot I can still do and will do to tweak and tune. But even now, the data it gathers is useful and will shape Pip’s Odyssey in the next phase of development.

Can I just say a big, Big, BIG thank you to everyone who has played it?

If you do choose to share anonymous usage data, I’d really appreciate it and so will Pip’s Odyssey 😍
